Reiki (ray' key --meaning universal energy) is an ancient
Tibetan system of natural healing. It is not a religion, dogma, doctrine, nor
cult. It is a powerful, yet gentle and profoundly effective current of energy. According to the laws of physics all matter is but a collection of energy
(i.e., tables, apples and humans) in a field. Each object has a set of characteristics
that make it unique. Reiki works within each field of energy as needed to heal.
The only requirement of the recipient is to be willing to receive
the Reiki energy. The treatment session is simple and usually lasts about forty-five
minutes. There is no need to remove clothing as Reiki is a non-intrusive technique.
While Reiki is complete within itself, it will also maximize
other forms of therapy. People have been drawn to Reiki to accelerate the healing
process of their present treatment or when conventional modalities fail to heal
injuries or internal sources of conflict (i.e., dis-ease).
Until recently Reiki was not widely know in the states. However,
it has grown in acceptance to both mainstream medicine as well as non-traditional
healing practices and has been used for decades in the Far-East as a modality
of healing.
The number of books and Internet sites devoted to Reiki has quadrupled over the last few years, which is a testament to the universality and healing power of Reiki.
